Pune: A case has been registered against employees of SpiceJet Airlines at Pune’s Lohegaon Airport following allegations of theft from a passenger's luggage. The incident has raised concerns over the security of passengers' belongings during air travel.

The complainant, Arjun Dhondiba Jagtap, a 47-year-old resident of Viman Nagar, reported that upon his arrival from Dubai on SpiceJet flight SG 52, he found his luggage in a damaged state with the lock broken.

The incident took place between 12:10 AM and 4:30 AM on Tuesday night. According to Jagtap, the damage to the bag was estimated at INR 10,000, and upon further inspection, he discovered that INR 7,000 in cash was missing.

Jagtap immediately approached the airline for an explanation, but when no satisfactory response was provided, he lodged a formal complaint at the Viman Nagar Police Station. The police have since registered a case against the employees of SpiceJet involved in handling the luggage.

The investigation is being led by Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Salunkhe, who is examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those responsible. The case highlights the importance of luggage security and the need for airlines to ensure the safety of passengers' belongings.

This incident has sparked outrage among passengers, many of whom are now questioning the reliability of airline baggage handling services. SpiceJet has yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter.
