SPPU Unblocks PRN: Find Out Which Students Gain from Session Completion Waiver

Colleges and institutions must ensure that no eligible student is deprived of their chance to take the exams under the semester completion guidelines.

Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced that students who were previously blocked from taking exams due to the completion of their semester session duration will now be given two additional opportunities to appear for their exams.

This decision follows directives from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the approval of the Academic Council, aiming to prevent academic setbacks for thousands of students.

In adherence to UGC regulations, students are required to complete their degree programs within a prescribed period. However, many students failed to clear their degree examinations within this timeframe, leading the university's examination department to block their PRNs (Permanent Registration Numbers).

This action effectively barred them from submitting exam forms. In response to this situation, the university has now decided to unblock the PRNs of these students, allowing them to participate in the upcoming examinations scheduled for October-November 2024 and March-April 2025.

The process for submitting exam forms will be conducted in phases, and the exams will take place as planned. The university has instructed all affiliated colleges to take necessary measures to guide and assist students at the college level, ensuring that no eligible student misses the opportunity to appear for their exams.

The onus of communication and timely submission of exam forms lies with the respective colleges and institutions.

Dr. Mahesh Kakade, Director of the Examination and Evaluation Board at Savitribai Phule Pune University, emphasized that colleges and institutions must ensure that no eligible student is deprived of their chance to take the exams under the semester completion guidelines.

Who Will Benefit from the Semester Completion Decision?
