Summer Demand: Sweet Lime and Lemon Prices Increase; Vegetable Prices Stable at Market Yard

In the flower market, prices rose by 5-10% due to the upcoming Shiv Jayanti celebrations, with marigold being sold at ₹40-60 per kg and jasmine at ₹1000-1200 per kg.

Pune: The Pune Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Gultekdi witnessed an influx of around 90 trucks of vegetables and fruits on Sunday, sourced from various regions across the state and neighboring states such as Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan. According to traders, the balance between supply and demand ensured price stability in the market.

Vegetable arrivals included green chilies, cabbage, garlic, potatoes, and onions, among others. A significant inflow of leafy greens, particularly coriander and fenugreek, was also observed. Prices of vegetables per 10 kg remained steady, with onions priced at ₹300-340 and tomatoes between ₹80-120.

Fruit demand has increased amid rising temperatures, leading to price hikes for sweet lime and lemons. Sweet lime prices have surged by 5-10% due to new harvest arrivals, while pomegranate prices remained steady. Apples, guavas, grapes, and melons also saw stable pricing.

Increase in Prices of Sweet Lime and Lemon With rising temperatures, the demand for fruits, including lemons, has increased, causing prices to rise. Traders noted that while the overall fruit supply at the market was lower, the arrival of sweet lime had increased. Prices of sweet lime have risen by 5-10% due to the new harvest. While pomegranate prices have remained stable compared to last week, they continue to be on the higher side.

  • Pineapples: 6 tempos

  • Sweet lime: 35-40 tons

  • Oranges: 20-25 tons

  • Pomegranates: 15-20 tons

  • Papayas: 12 tons

  • Guavas: 3,000 crates

  • Apples: 1,000-1,200 crates

  • Gooseberries: 3 tons

  • Jujubes: 150 sacks

  • Melons: 4,000 crates

  • Grapes: 15 tons

  • Ganesh Pomegranate (per kg): ₹10-50

  • Arakta Pomegranate (per kg): ₹20-70

  • Sweet lime (per 3 dozen): ₹100-300, (per 4 dozen): ₹20-100

  • Oranges (per 10 kg): ₹200-800

  • Guavas (per kg): ₹10-30

  • Apples: Iran (9 kg): ₹1100-1300

  • Gooseberries (per kg): ₹20-30

  • Melons (per kg): Kundan: ₹22-30, Layalpur: ₹18-25

  • Jujubes (per 10 kg): Chameli: ₹220-280, Umran: ₹60-100, Chanya Manya: ₹500-600
