Swargate Police Colony: Officer’s Wife Ends Life, Investigation Underway

Jyoti Kailas Barde (19), wife of Kailas Barde, ended her life in the Swargate police quarters. Jyoti has not left a suicide note before taking the extreme step.

Pune: Two tragic incidents of young women ending their lives by hanging were reported in Pune on Friday (December 6). The police are investigating both cases to determine the reasons behind the suicides.

The first incident occurred at the Swargate police quarters, where 19-year-old Jyoti Kailas Barde ended her life. Jyoti was the wife of Kailas Barde, a police officer serving in the Pune City Police Force. The couple lived in the Swargate police quarters.

On Friday afternoon, Jyoti was at home with her brother. Around 2:30 PM, she took the extreme step by hanging herself. Her brother discovered the incident and immediately informed the police. Senior Inspector Shashikant Chavan from Khadak Police Station visited the scene.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Jyoti had not left a suicide note. The police have registered an accidental death report, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover the cause of her actions.

In a separate case, another 19-year-old girl was found to have committed suicide by hanging in the Shriram Colony area of Kothrud. This incident also came to light on Friday. The motive behind the suicide remains unknown.

Senior Inspector Sandeep Deshmane from Kothrud Police Station visited the location and is leading the investigation.
