Pune: An inspiring incident in Pune has brought attention to the honesty of an auto driver, Rajabhau Chandrakant Raskar, who returned a bag containing 8.5 tolas of gold left behind by a passenger. His act of integrity has earned him praise and recognition from the Swargate Police.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (December 10) morning when Raskar was transporting a female passenger from Panmala to Swargate. Around 8 a.m., the woman accidentally left her bag in the auto. Raskar, unaware of its contents, discovered the bag only after reaching Sadashiv Peth.

Realizing the bag was left behind, Raskar immediately went to the Swargate Police Chowki to hand it over. By then, the woman had already reported the missing bag at the Swargate Police Station.

The police called the woman to the station and inspected the bag, confirming it contained 8.5 tolas of gold. The bag and its contents were returned to her intact, with police ensuring proper verification.

In recognition of his honesty, the Swargate Police organized a small felicitation ceremony, presenting Raskar with a shawl and a coconut. Police Sub-Inspector Balu Popat Sirsat and officers Amol Kate and Prabhakar Sonawane commended his actions during the event.

Speaking about his decision, Raskar said, "I was taught never to touch belongings that don’t belong to me. I did not know what was in the bag until the police informed me.

I feel grateful that my actions were recognized, and it gives me immense joy to know my honesty was appreciated."
