Symbiosis Skills and Professional University Launches School of Defence and Aerospace Technology

SSPU School of Defence & Aerospace Technology will equip students with hands-on training, industry exposure, and leadership skills to contribute to India’s self-reliance in defence and aerospace.

Pune: Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU) has announced the launch of its School of Defence and Aerospace Technology, a strategic initiative aimed at developing industry-ready professionals for India’s growing defence and aerospace sectors.

The inauguration took place at SSPU’s Kiwale campus in the presence of Lt. Gen. VG Khandare (Principal Adviser, Ministry of Defence), Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale (Retd.), Harsh Gune (MCCIA Member), and Dr. Swati Mujumdar (Pro-Chancellor, SSPU).

Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Pro-Chancellor of SSPU, emphasized the rapid growth in India’s defence and aerospace industries, creating a strong demand for skilled professionals. She stated, “The SSPU School of Defence & Aerospace Technology will equip students with hands-on training, industry exposure, and leadership skills to contribute effectively to India’s self-reliance in defence and aerospace.”

As part of the event, Lt. Gen. VG Khandare delivered a keynote address on "Comprehensive National Security & Power”, while Harsh Gune discussed capability building under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale (Retd.) provided valuable insights into defence and national security.

With India emerging as a global hub for defence manufacturing and aerospace innovation, the SSPU School of Defence and Aerospace Technology has designed its programs in collaboration with industry leaders, policymakers, and defence organizations. The curriculum covers critical areas such as defence manufacturing, logistics, MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul), cyber warfare, AI in defence, and space security.

To ensure a strong industry connect, SSPU has partnered with leading defence and aerospace companies, including L&T, Godrej, Hindustan Aeronautics, and Tata Technologies, to develop its programs.
