Pune: In a significant crackdown on unauthorized constructions, the Municipal Corporation demolished buildings along the road leading to Ambai Mata Temple in Dhayari, located in the Sinhagad Road area.

The operation, overseen by the Building Department under Zone 2, resulted in the demolition of RCC structures spanning 10,000 square feet.

Before the demolition, notices had been issued by the Municipal Corporation to illegal constructions in Hingne Khurd’s Anand Vihar BDP Zone and on the same road in Dhayari.

A large number of residents gathered during the demolition, initially protesting the action, which led to a tense atmosphere. However, the officials proceeded with the demolition despite the opposition.

A significant dispute ensued between the officials and the citizens. The officials temporarily halted the demolition, and with the assistance of local police, dispersed the crowd and brought the situation under control before resuming the operation. The demolition was carried out using JCBs, breakers, gas cutters, and other equipment.

The Municipal Corporation has announced that similar actions against unauthorized constructions in the area will continue, and has urged residents not to engage in illegal building activities. The crackdown has caused fear among those involved in illegal construction.

This operation was led by the Building Department under Zone 2, under the guidance of Superintendent Engineer Shridhar Yewalekar and Executive Engineer Vilas Nawale.

The demolition was executed with the involvement of Deputy Engineer Vijay Kumawat, Junior Engineer Mahesh Zoman, Mayur Gedam, and the encroachment department staff, with police protection.
