Pune: Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress General Secretary Akshay Jain has accused the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) of withholding Information on disability quota appointments.

Jain criticized the government for its alleged attempts over the past decade to position its own candidates within the administrative services.

He emphasized that there is no publicly available data on the number of vacancies filled under the disability quota or the individuals who have submitted disability certificates.

Jain revealed plans to file a petition in the Supreme Court to obtain a detailed list of officers appointed through the disability quota.

He stated, "The submission of fake disability certificates is not an isolated case with Khedkar; many others have done the same." He has formally requested the commission to provide the names and ranks of disabled candidates who made it to the merit list between 2016 and 2024, along with copies of the certificates submitted by these candidates and the cadre allocated to them.

However, Jain expressed frustration that the UPSC has not responded to these requests for information, suggesting a potential cover-up.

"The commission does not maintain such a list separately," he noted, adding that the relevant information was said to be available on the website of the Central Government's Department of Personnel and Training. Yet, this department has also refused to disclose information.

Jain concluded by highlighting the responsibility of both the UPSC and the Department of Personnel and Training in appointing personnel to the highest civil service positions in the country, asserting that information regarding these appointments is being deliberately suppressed.
