A high-risk pregnancy closely monitored

Amina, who lives in Ovari village in Sambhal district, had been under medical supervision at Teerthanker Mahaveer University Hospital in the Lodhipur area since the early phase of her pregnancy. An ultrasound performed in the third month revealed four fetuses, leading doctors to classify her pregnancy as high-risk.

Medical professionals generally regard quadruplet pregnancies as highly uncommon and medically complex because they carry elevated risks of preterm delivery, low birth weight, and complications affecting the mother’s health. Although doctors first recommended fetal reduction to reduce potential problems, the family decided to proceed with the pregnancy under close medical monitoring.

First baby born on May 9, others follow days later

Hospital officials reported that Amina gave birth to her first child on May 9. In an unusual turn of events, her labour resumed several days later, resulting in the delivery of three additional babies on May 14. Notably, all four children were born without requiring a Caesarean section.Dr. Shubhra Agrawal, who led the medical team, stated that this was the hospital’s first case of quadruplets delivered vaginally. She noted that a dedicated team of doctors and nurses closely tracked the mother’s condition and the fetuses’ growth throughout the pregnancy.

Family expresses gratitude

Expressing relief and happiness, Amina thanked the doctors for safely guiding her through the complex pregnancy. Her husband, Mohammad Alim, praised the hospital staff for their dedication and careful handling of the case over several months.

Healthcare specialists state that the natural vaginal delivery of quadruplets is exceptionally uncommon worldwide, marking this occurrence as a significant milestone for the hospital and a powerful example of coordinated maternal care and medical expertise.
