Pune: The newly established 'Dr. Lilavati Gogate Yoga Hall and Health Center' was inaugurated today at the girls' hostel of the Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti. This initiative has been made possible by a generous donation of one million US dollars (₹85,61,500) by Prema and Anil Gogate.
Speaking at the event, entrepreneur Anil Gogate emphasized the importance of fostering a generation grounded in discipline, ethics, and respect.
"This donation is made in the name of my sister, Dr. Lilavati, as a tribute to her legacy. It is a privilege to contribute to the noble efforts of the Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti, which is shaping the youth of tomorrow," he said. Prema Gogate also shared her belief in the joy of giving, noting, "True happiness lies in the act of giving, not in receiving."
The event was graced by the presence of committee president Prataprao Pawar, executive trustee Tushar Ranjankar, trustee Makarand Phadke, and several members of the Gogate family, including their daughter Shaila Armbrust, son-in-law Richard Armbrust, and granddaughters Leela and Indira.
Addressing the audience, Prataprao Pawar highlighted the significance of yoga, describing it as a vital tool for achieving mental stability and enhancing concentration. "Yoga is a perfect confluence of art and science, contributing to improved academic and personal efficiency," he noted.
Tushar Ranjankar underscored the committee's focus on character building, stating, "Our emphasis is not only on guiding students on what to do but also on what to avoid. This approach has cultivated a culture of discipline and respect within the committee, ensuring that our students are also dedicated to national interests."
The program was seamlessly conducted by student Saratha Deshpande, with a vote of thanks delivered by Parnavi Maske.
