Vimantal Police Launch Awareness Drive on Child Safety in Schools

Damini Marshal officers held discussions with school principals and teachers, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in maintaining school safety.

Pune: In response to a recent child sexual abuse case in Badlapur, the Vimantal police have intensified their efforts to prevent such incidents in Viman Nagar, Wadgaon Sheri.

The local police, under the Vimantal Police Station, are conducting awareness programs and workshops on "Good Touch, Bad Touch" in schools. They are also reviewing the safety measures in and around school premises to ensure the protection of students.

Today, the Damini Marshal team visited various schools in Viman Nagar to inspect the security infrastructure, including CCTV systems, security arrangements both inside and outside the schools, staff background checks, and the protocols followed during student transportation. The team also assessed the functioning of the school safety committees.

During their visits, the Damini Marshal officers held discussions with school principals and teachers, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in maintaining school safety.

They also engaged with students, teaching them how to use the complaint boxes installed in schools, recognize the difference between "Good Touch and Bad Touch," and understand the steps to take if they encounter any inappropriate situations.

Prominent attendees included Damini Marshal officers Dipali Deshmukh and Sanghshakti Rokade, along with school principals Satish Patil of Sant Goroba Balvidyaniketan and Laxman Masal of Anand Vidyaniketan High School.

The initiative aims to ensure that students feel secure and informed, with regular school visits by the Damini Marshal team as part of the effort.

Samoo Choudhary, Child-Friendly Police Inspector at Vimantal Police Station stated, "To ensure that students feel safe, the Damini Marshal team regularly visits schools, reviews the safety environment, interacts with students, and raises awareness about the POCSO Act."

Satish Patil, Principal, Sant Goroba Balvidyaniketan stated, "CCTV and complaint boxes have been installed on the school premises, and awareness workshops have been conducted with students through the Damini Marshal team. Additionally, a Sakhi Savitri Committee has been established."
