Officials of the South Central Railway called it a "serious lapse" in security pending formal investigation against the railway official

In a highly unusual development, a video circulating on social media shows a first-class AC coach of the Indian Railways being used for purposes beyond that of a regular railway compartment.

A video is going viral on X showing an Indian Railways First Class AC coach converted into a bridal suite for a couple, with the compartment decorated using ambient lighting, balloons and rose petals scattered on the bed to resemble a 'honey moon night' setting.

Many internet users are sharing the video out of curiosity; some see it as a good opportunity for the railways to boost their revenue, while others are tagging the Railway Ministry and the Union Minister for Railways, seeking clarification on whether this is permitted by Indian Railways.

As per the media reports, the incident happened on July 6, 2026, at Jalna railway station in Maharashtra on Train Number 11002 Mumbai CSMT–Balharshah Nandigram Express.

A couple had privately hired an event decoration firm to surprise newlyweds with an elaborate setup featuring thousands of rose petals, balloons, fairy lights, heart-shaped garlands, floral arrangements, and an “I Love You” message on the wall.

Railways Response

Officials of the South Central Railway called it a "serious lapse" in security.

The statement stated although the passengers possessed valid tickets for the travel but permitting an outside decorator to enter and change the coach without prior authorisation violated safety regulations.

As reported by Indian Express, the Chief Ticket Inspector Girish Kumar on duty has been suspended, and a formal investigation is in progress. The decoration firm has also been charged with trespassing under applicable sections of the Railway Act.

So far, no measures have been taken against the passengers involved. The episode has ignited extensive online discussion over how to balance individual liberties with railway regulations.
