Vishwakarma Institute of Technology Conducts Voter Awareness Campaign

3,454 new voters have been registered and workshops, competitions, rallies, seminars etc. were organized to raise awareness about the right to vote.

Pune: Students of Vishwakarma Institute of Technology performed a record in voter registration as part of the 'Every Vote Matters' s franchise campaign organised by the Department of Social Welfare and Social Development.

Under this campaign, 3,454 new voters have been registered and workshops, competitions, rallies, seminars etc. were organized to raise awareness about the right to vote among the students.

During the campaign, students were taught the process of voter registration. Technical guidance was provided for online registration.

Speaking on the occasion, Gajanan Gambhire, Coordinating Officer, Central Election Commission said that the voter registration drive has given an opportunity to students to actively participate in the democratic process.

Also, the inclusion of their names in the electoral rolls in large numbers by students contributed significantly to the increase in the number of young voters in the country. The campaign was organised by the director of the college. Rajesh Jalnekar and Student Activities Coordinator Prof. Dr. Kaushalya Thopte did.
