Pune: A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a fourth-grade girl in Wagholi. The incident, which took place on Monday (March 24) morning around 8 AM, came to light when locals noticed the minor girl crying on the roadside and alerted the police.
According to police reports, the victim, a school-going minor, lives with her family in Wagholi Police Station’s jurisdiction. On Monday morning around 7 AM, she left for school, taking her usual route past a flour mill where the accused worked. The accused had been tracking her movements and used the opportunity to lure her with snacks.
He allegedly took the girl near the mill premises and sexually assaulted her. After the attack, the child was found crying on the roadside, visibly shaken. Several locals noticed the distressed girl, comforted her, and inquired about what had happened.
Upon learning about the incident, they immediately called the police control room and reported the crime. Authorities responded promptly, arresting the accused and registering a case against him.
Further investigations are underway, and officials have assured that strict legal action will be taken against the perpetrator.
The incident has sparked concern over child safety in the area, with law enforcement urging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
