Pune: A serious incident took place in Wagheswar Nagar, Wagholi, where four men allegedly set two motorcycles on fire in the early hours of Saturday (August 17).

The act is believed to have stemmed from a prior dispute between the individuals involved. The Wagholi police have registered a case against the four accused.

Sudhir Laxman Petkar, a 34-year-old resident of Wagholi, reported the incident, identifying the accused as Ganesh Dande, Shrutik Yerkar, Suraj Pawar, and Sameer Pille, all residents of Gore Vasti, Wagholi.

According to the police, the Petkar family was asleep when they were disturbed by the smell of burning and the sound of crackling flames around 1:30 AM.

Rushing outside, they found the four accused setting fire to their motorcycles. When Sudhir Petkar questioned their actions, Dande reportedly responded with threats and abusive language, warning him not to interfere, or he would face a similar fate as his motorcycles.

Despite the family’s efforts to extinguish the flames, the motorcycles were completely destroyed. The incident was promptly reported to the police, who have since registered a case against the four men involved.

On August 5, in a violent act of revenge for the recent murder of Sudhir Gawas, four gangsters had been on a rampage in Yerawada area. Armed with machetes, they vandalized motorcycles and auto rickshaws parked along the roadside.

The gangsters brandished their weapons and loudly threatened to kill anyone who interfered. They attacked a bystander, Praveen Bhagwan Kamble, leaving him seriously injured.
