Pune: A shocking incident unfolded in the Ramtekdi area early Thursday (January 30) morning when a man, furious over his former girlfriend’s refusal to meet him, set fire to her husband's motorcycle.

The fire completely destroyed the vehicle and spread to another bike parked nearby. The Wanawadi Police have arrested the accused, identified as Ahmed Pathan (40), a resident of Ramtekdi.

According to police reports, Pathan was previously in a relationship with the woman, but she ended the relationship and got married. Despite her rejection, Pathan persistently tried to meet her.

On Wednesday (January 29), the woman and her husband attended a wedding, where Pathan followed them. This led to a heated argument between him and her husband, after which the woman firmly refused to meet him.

Enraged by the rejection, Pathan went to her residential society around 5 AM on Thursday. In an act of revenge, he poured petrol on her husband’s motorcycle and set it on fire. The flames completely gutted the vehicle and also damaged another bike parked nearby.

Upon receiving information, the Wanawadi Police launched an investigation and swiftly arrested Ahmed Pathan. Senior Police Inspector Satyajit Adamane confirmed that a case has been registered against him and further legal action is being taken. The incident has caused concern among local residents, highlighting the dangers of obsessive behavior and personal vendettas.
