Pune: A disturbing incident at Pune Railway Station has once again brought passenger safety into the spotlight, after a local auto-rickshaw driver harassed a young woman who had booked a cab through Uber.
The woman, who shared her ordeal on social media, recounted how she was approached by an auto driver while waiting for her cab. Upon declining his offer, the driver inquired about her Uber fare. When she responded that it was ₹160, he became visibly agitated, insisting that she should travel with him for ₹200 instead.
When she refused, citing her pre-booked ride, the auto driver turned aggressive. As her cab arrived, he began an argument with the cab driver, questioning how such low fares were possible. The cab driver defended the rates, explaining that they were set by the ride-hailing app and that the auto driver had no authority to interfere.
Despite this, the auto driver continued harassing the woman as she loaded her luggage into the cab. Just as she entered the vehicle, the situation took a threatening turn—the auto driver banged on the cab’s window and issued a warning, saying: "You live in Kharadi, right? See you there, I’ll deal with you!"
