India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra on Friday paid tributes at the National 9/11 Memorial at the Pentagon on the 25th anniversary of the terror attacks in the US.

In a message, Kwatra said India and the US will keep combining their strengths and resolve till terrorism is defeated.

“On this day, 25 years ago, terrorists attacked the United States. We remember the victims today, and we hold their families in our prayers,” Kwatra said.

He stated that terrorism has claimed countless innocent lives worldwide, and that those who commit, endorse, or finance it oppose all that is good and decent in our common humanity.

“They stand against compassion, against dignity, against civilization itself,” Kwatra said.

He stated that India has endured cross-border terrorism for many years and has consistently been at the forefront of efforts to combat it.

"Our policy is one of zero tolerance toward terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," Kwatra said.

He added that India confronted terrorism directly again last year, when 26 innocent civilians were killed in Pahalgam, in Jammu and Kashmir, by terrorists who had been trained and given refuge across the border.

India and the United States have jointly opposed this threat, and we will continue to unite our capabilities and determination until terrorism is eradicated," Kwatra stated.

The United States marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, when the extremist group al-Qaeda carried out three coordinated suicide assaults in New York and Washington, while a fourth attack was thwarted after passengers and crew resisted the hijackers, causing the aircraft to crash in a field in Pennsylvania.
