Facebook has agreed to restore the news content on its platform after the Australian government agreed to make amendments to the proposed legislation that is designed to make digital giants pay for media content on their platform.

“Facebook and the government reached agreement on amendments to proposed legislation that would make the social network and Google pay for news that they feature,” Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said in a statement on Tuesday

Earlier, Facebook had blocked all the news-related content on its platform after the House of Representatives passed the draft law late Wednesday last week that challenged Facebook and Google dominance in the news content market.

The Senate will debate the proposed amendments to the legislation on Tuesday.
