Pune: The Pune-based Nadasaptak Sangeet Vidyalaya will present ‘Yamanrang,’ an extraordinary musical program featuring 101 songs inspired by the soul-stirring raga Yaman (Kalyan).

Scheduled for Wednesday, December 25, 2024, the event will take place at the MES Auditorium, Bal Shikshan High School, Mayur Colony, Kothrud, from 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Entry to the six-hour-long event is free for all.

Curated by celebrated singer-composer Girish Panchwadkar, founder-director of Nadasaptak Sangeet Vidyalaya, Yamanrang aims to set a milestone by entering the India Book of Records. Veteran music composer Shridhar Phadke will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, joined by other notable figures from Pune’s music industry and beyond.

The program will feature performances by Girish Panchwadkar and 40 students from the academy, supported by distinguished artists such as keyboard maestro Vivek Paranjape, tabla virtuoso Akshay Panchwadkar, singer Manjushree Oak, and other acclaimed musicians.

A musical feast for the audience, Yamanrang will explore a rich tapestry of genres including Bhavgeet, Bhakti Geet, Ghazals, Natya Geet, Lavani, and Abhang. Selections will highlight the poetic brilliance of Marathi stalwarts like Mangesh Padgaonkar, G.D. Madgulkar, and Shantabai Shelke alongside Hindi legends Sahir Ludhianvi, Shailendra, and Gulzar. The program will also feature classical pieces such as Tarana and Yaman Se Naman, composed by Panchwadkar himself.

“This is a unique opportunity for Pune’s music enthusiasts to experience the timeless beauty of Yaman through a diverse repertoire of songs and genres,” said Girish Panchwadkar. “The performances will honor the legacy of Indian classical music while showcasing the versatility of raga Yaman.”
