Yerawada Jail Inmates Showcase Talent in Rangoli, Mehendi, and Drawing Contests

Samata Foundation organized Rangoli, Mehendi, and Drawing competitions for women inmates at Yerawada Women Jail.

Pune: Samata Foundation, a charitable organization from Mumbai known for its dedication to social responsibility, has been running commendable initiatives at Yerawada Central Jail and Women's Jail.

These initiatives include organizing medical camps for various ailments and providing free entertainment materials for inmates.

Recently, the foundation organized Rangoli, Mehendi, and Drawing competitions for women inmates at Yerawada women jail. The competitions saw enthusiastic participation from the inmates, highlighting their creative talents.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on September 6, 2024, with the presence of Sunil Dhamal, Superintendent of Yerawada Central Jail. During the ceremony, certificates were awarded to those who excelled in the competitions, recognizing their efforts and skills.

The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Prashant Burde, Additional Director General of Police and Inspector General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Maharashtra State, Pune, and Dr. Jalindar Supekar, Special Inspector General of Police (Prisons), Maharashtra State, Pune, along with Swati Sathe, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Western Region, Pune.

The event was attended by notable officials including Sunil N. Dhamal, Superintendent of Yerawada Central Jail; P. P. Kadam, Additional Superintendent;

Ananda S. Kande, Senior Jail Officer; R. A. Khilari, Jail Officer Grade-02; Pournima Palodkar, Jail Officer Grade-02; Rinakshi Gawli, Teacher; and representatives from Samata Foundation, such as Rohini Nemnar and Hina Sayyed.

The presence of these officials highlighted the importance of rehabilitative activities for the inmates, aimed at fostering creativity and improving mental well-being.
