PUNE: Observing the consumption pattern of water by Pune city over last few years, about 10.86 TMC ft water has been allocated to the city till July 15.
While Pune city has been allocated 11.5 TMC ft water, in last few years, the city has utilised around 16 TMC of water. As per the decisions taken at the canal committee meeting held on Saturday, based on the increasing population of the city and water leakages, a reservation of 18.6 TMC ft water will be required for the city.
Officials of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) said the city requires 1.45 MLD water on a daily basis. It was also decided at the meeting to alert people on cautious use of water so that people do not have to face water cuts. The State Irrigation Department shared that water stock in Khadakwasla basin stood at 24.57 TMC ft on Monday.
