180 more buses to run between Pune, Mumbai

PUNE: The Central Railway has cancelled some trains plying between Pune and Mumbai for 15 days due to maintenance work of the railway track being carried out in the ghat section. Hence, Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will ply 180 more buses to clear the extra rush.

On Friday, Deccan Queen and Sinhagad Express trains witnessed a heavy rush of daily commuters. Their coaches were full and even the reserved passengers suffered as commuters entered the reserved coaches.

In the backdrop of the cancellation of trains, the State transport minister directed to start additional buses. MSRTC has planned to ply 180 additional buses daily from Mumbai, Thane, Pune, besides the regular buses. Also, additional 24 rounds of Shivneri buses will commence on the Mumbai-Pune route.

The Central Railway administration cancelled various trains between Mumbai, Pune, Miraj, Sangli and Kolhapur for the repair work of the railway line. To avoid the inconvenience to the commuters who commute daily on this route, the State transport department has planned to ply 50 buses daily from Mumbai, 50 from Thane, 70 from Pune and 10 each from Miraj, Sangli and Kolhapur.

Apart from this, the Railways has decided to add more coaches and halts during infrastructure work at Lonavla ghat. Train number 17411 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM)  Shri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus (Kolhapur) Mahalaxmi Express with one additional Sleeper Class, train number 11041 CSTM  Chennai Central Express with one additional Sleeper Class, train number 16381 CSTM Kanyakumari Express with one additional General Second class, train number 11019 CSTM Bhubaneshwar Konark Express with one additional General Second class. Train number 12123 CSTM Pune Deccan Queen will be given additional halts at Dadar and Thane stations. Train number 12124 Pune Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Deccan Queen will be given additional halts at Karjat and Thane stations.
