2 attacked with sickle on busy Prabhat Road

PUNE: A 72-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were allegedly attacked by two persons with a sickle on the busy Prabhat Road on Thursday afternoon. The assailants Ajit Gogawale (45) who stays in Hadapsar and Amit Valhekar (31) from Kalewadi were arrested by the Deccan police and were booked under charges of attempt to murder. 

According to the Deccan police, the incident took place in BP Classic Society. The police said that the 72-year-old victim is a real estate developer who was having a conversation with his lawyer, the second victim, identified as Neha Jadhav. On Thursday afternoon, the duo accused who were armed with sickle started assaulting the old man. When Neha tried to intervene, the duo also attacked her. “Neha suffered a fracture in one of her fingers while the old man suffered multiple injuries on his head and hands,” the Deccan police said.

Following the incident, a team of Deccan police nabbed the duo accused and the two victims were admitted to a hospital. The police said that Valhekar and Gogawale are friends and there was a land dispute between the old man and Gogawale which led to the incident. Police Inspector Ajay Kadam and Arun Avhad of Deccan police station are investigating the case.
