Pune, 8th July 2025: The Pune City Police's Anti-Narcotics Squad has arrested two habitual offenders involved in the illegal sale of marijuana (cannabis) in the city. Acting on a tip-off, the team laid a trap and apprehended the accused with 22 kilograms of marijuana and other items collectively worth ₹4.84 lakh.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Akshay Ankush Mane (30), a resident of Ghorpade Peth, and Yash Rajesh Chive (19), a resident of Dandekar Bridge area. A case has been registered against them at the Ambegaon Police Station under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
According to officials, the Anti-Narcotics Squad Team-1 was patrolling the area when they spotted two individuals acting suspiciously on the road leading to Shaninagar in Ambegaon Budruk. The suspects were carrying a large nylon sack, which prompted the police to intercept and inspect the bag.
Upon checking, the team found 22 kg of marijuana inside the sack. The police also seized two mobile phones, a motorcycle, and other materials used in the drug trade. The total value of the confiscated items has been estimated at ₹4.84 lakh.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Masal, and Assistant Commissioner Ganesh Ingle. Police Inspector Prashant Annachatre and his team from the Anti-Narcotics Squad led the successful action.
