58 new APMCs will join eNAM: MSAMB

PUNE:  According to the Maharashtra State Agriculture Marketing Board (MSAMB), as many as 58 new agricultural produce market committees (APMC) will join the Centre’s eNAM (Electronic National Agriculture Market) platform. 

Out of this, three of them are in districts such as Gadchiroli, Osmanabad and Washim. eNAM is an online trading platform for agricultural commodities in India that facilitate farmers, traders and buyers with online trading in agriculture commodities 

“There are 58 new APMCs in the State that will join the Centre’s platform of e-NAM, out of which three of them are in districts such as Chamorshi APMC in Gadchiroli, Kalamb APMC in Osmanabad and Washim APMC in Washim district. MSAMB has the completed the setting of infrastructure required for the implementation of the platform. However, we are waiting for the Centre to appoint a mandi analyst so that the e-NAM can be started in these three APMCs. Once the mandi analyst is appointed, eNAM will start in these three APMCs,” said MSAMB Managing Director Sunil Pawar 

He further said, “Additional 55 APMCs have been approved a month ago for e-NAM by the government of India and the funding process is going on. Once the funds arrive, MSAMB will start by setting up infrastructure in these APMCs.” 

At present, there are 60 APMCs in the State where e-NAM is functional with 11.84 lakh famers, 16,723 traders and 13,424 commission agents registered on this platform with around 90 commodities on e-NAM. 

However, there are total 305 agricultural produce market committees in Maharashtra.
