Air India Suspends Pune-Singapore Flights Until September 30 due to Safety Inspections

Ongoing DGCA-mandated aircraft checks prompt extended suspension, affecting both international and domestic connectivity from Pune.

Pune, 16 July 2025: In a development affecting international travel from Pune, Air India has announced the suspension of its Pune-Singapore (AI-2111/10) flight service until September 30. The decision comes in the wake of continuing technical maintenance and safety inspections being carried out on the airline's fleet. Air India confirmed the suspension in an official statement issued on Tuesday.

The move follows intensified scrutiny by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) after a recent incident involving an Air India aircraft in Ahmedabad raised concerns about overall safety standards. In response, DGCA launched comprehensive inspections of the airline’s fleet, leading to a wave of flight cancellations and suspensions between June 24 and July 15.

Due to the ongoing safety checks and repairs, the airline has opted to extend the suspension of the Pune-Singapore route, which operated via Delhi with five weekly departures from Pune International Airport. The extended halt in services is expected to impact not just international travel to Southeast Asia, but also reduce frequency on the Pune-Delhi route, inconveniencing domestic passengers as well.

In its statement, Air India said it had already reached out to affected passengers with advance bookings, offering full refunds or rebooking options. The airline has advised travellers to check their registered email for updates or to contact customer care for further assistance.

Air India has indicated that a gradual resumption of international services will begin in phases from August, depending on regulatory clearances and aircraft readiness. The full reinstatement of the Pune-Singapore service is currently expected from October 1.
