Baramati, 28 January 2026: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died along with three others when the aircraft carrying them crashed near Baramati in Pune district on Wednesday morning, officials said.
The plane was attempting to land at Baramati when it lost control and crashed, according to early reports. The aircraft reportedly caught fire after the impact.
Ajit Pawar had been travelling for election-related engagements in the Baramati region. He was a senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and was scheduled to attend campaign events for local elections.
Emergency services, including police and fire response teams, rushed to the scene after the crash. Authorities are currently working to determine the exact cause of the accident and to recover and identify remains.
