Anti Narcotics Cell seizes 84 kg marijuna

Pune: Around 84 kg of marijuana worth Rs 13,95,000 has been seized by Anti-Narcotics Cell of Pune police from a car on Sinhagad Road on Friday. One person has been arrested by police during the seizure.

The arrested peddler has been identified as Mahesh Salunkhe who has cases against him under NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. He was also booked for body offences in the past.

According to the Anti-Narcotics Cell, while patrolling on Sinhagad Road, the police observed Salunkhe who was sitting inside his car stationed at a spot near Rajaram Bridge. On the basis of suspicion, the police searched his car and recovered 84 kg of marijuana which was placed in four sacks inside the boot of the car.

The police have registered a case against Salunkhe under NDPS Act.
