Ashadhi Wari: Traffic Changes in Pune for Palkhi Departure Ceremony

Key roads to remain closed on Sunday as palkhis proceed towards Pandharpur

Pune, 21 June 2025: The palkhi departure ceremony of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj will take place on Sunday, June 22. Due to this religious procession, the Pune Traffic Police have announced multiple road closures and diversions on important routes from Sunday morning.

The palkhi of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj will start from the Vithoba Temple in Bhavani Peth, while Sant Tukaram Maharaj palkhi will leave from the Nivdung Vithoba Temple in Nana Peth. Both processions will pass through Nana Peth and Bhavani Peth towards Solapur. The Dnyaneshwar Maharaj palkhi will travel to Saswad via Dive Ghat, and the Tukaram Maharaj palkhi will halt at Loni Kalbhor on Solapur Road.

To avoid traffic congestion and ensure the smooth movement of devotees, traffic on these routes will be restricted from Sunday morning until the palkhis pass through. Commuters have been advised to use alternative routes during this time.

Roads closed for traffic during the palkhi departure ceremony:

  • Sant Kabir Chowk to Belbag Chowk

  • Sant Kabir Chowk to Ramoshi Gate Chowk

  • Dhole Patil Chowk (Seven Loves Chowk) to Ramoshi Gate Chowk

  • Golibil Maidan Chowk to Dhole Patil Chowk

  • Mammadevi Chowk to Golibil Maidan

  • Bishop School to Mammadevi Chowk

  • Trial Hotel to Mahatma Gandhi Road to Ramoshi Gate Chowk

  • Bhairobanala Chowk to Mammadevi Chowk

  • Jambhulkar Chowk to Fatimanagar Chowk

  • B. T. Kavade Road Chowk, Kalubai Mandir Chowk, Ramtekdi

  • Magarpatta Chowk, Hadapsar Village Ves (Traffic closed from 2 am to 2 pm)

  • Siram Chowk to Solapur Road

  • No. 15 Phata to Solapur Road

  • Mantarwadi Phata to Saswad

  • Khadimasheen Chowk to Bopdev Ghat (Traffic closed from 5 am to 12 pm)

    The traffic police have appealed to all to follow the diversions and cooperate for the peaceful conduct of the palkhi ceremony. Traffic will be restored once the processions move ahead.
