The operation was carried out on March 3 by the Air Intelligence Unit under the Pune Commissionerate. During inspection of the Air India flight arriving from Bangkok, officers discovered two yellow packets hidden inside the tissue cabinet of the aircraft’s lavatory.

Upon opening the packets, officials found eight vacuum-sealed pouches containing hydroponic marijuana. The total weight of the seized narcotics was approximately 745 grams.

Authorities have launched an investigation to identify who hid the contraband inside the aircraft and how it was smuggled onto the flight. No arrests have been made in connection with the case so far.

Officials said hydroponic marijuana is considered a high-grade and expensive narcotic substance. They also noted that in recent months, attempts to smuggle such drugs from Bangkok to Pune have increased.

The Air Intelligence Unit has urged citizens to report any suspicious activity related to drug trafficking so that strict action can be taken against those involved.
