CAs Responsible For Good GST Collection: Krishna Mishra

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: Goods and Services Tax (GST) Principal Chief Commissioner Krishna Mishra emphasised that Chartered Accountants (CAs) have been providing important services due to which GST collection has increased substantially.

She was addressing a two-day national conference titled ‘GST - Way Forward’ organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) at MIT Kothrud.

CGST Commissioner Rajiv Kapur, National Vice President of ICAI Atul Gupta, members of the Central Council, ICAI, CV Chitale, President of Pune Chapter Ruta Chitale, Sushilkumar Goyal, Rajendra Kumar, Yashwant Kasar, Anand Jakhotia, Sameer Laddha, Abhishek Dhamne and Kashinath Pathare were present at the conference.

“GST has been introduced for the convenience of the common man. There was definite room for reforms in it. The GST council has been consistently working on changing this into ‘Good and Simple Tax’,” said Mishra.

Rajiv Kapur said, “Some entities have been facing issues while filing online GST. They should be helped immediately. The campaign witnessed a very good response under ‘Sab ka Vishwas,’ which was a nice sign. We have been trying to resolve issues and gain the common man’s faith and also anticipate cooperation from taxpayers. Those who were creating false GST bills can be easily booked. It was difficult to bring all taxpayers under one roof. All will be well though it will take some time.”

Atul Gupta said, “CAs play an important role as a catalyst in national development, social and economic reforms. ICAI was striving consistently for retaining the quality of CAs. We have installed platforms like a digital hub, UDIN for guidance to CA and students. The syllabus has been updated by blending it with technology. Timely guidance sessions and workshops are arranged to make the CAs more professional. We are also working on digitising our services.”
