Pune, 5th May 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has approved a ₹4,628.85 crore budget for the financial year 2026–27 for the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).
The approval was given during the authority’s 14th meeting held in Mumbai, where the official budget document was also released. The estimated expenditure stands at ₹4,625.30 crore, leaving a small surplus of ₹3.55 crore.
The budget places strong emphasis on infrastructure development, with ₹2,918.81 crore allocated to the engineering department. Major projects include the Pune ring road, metro expansion, Katraj–Yerawada twin tunnel, Lonavala skywalk, river improvement works, and road and housing development initiatives aimed at supporting the region’s growth.
Apart from infrastructure, ₹970.76 crore has been earmarked for the land and estate department to support planning and land management activities. A separate fire services fund has also been introduced, with expected receipts of ₹100.05 crore and expenditure of ₹71.04 crore to strengthen emergency services.
During the meeting, Fadnavis directed officials to complete structural development plans for villages under PMRDA within six months. He stressed the need for faster planning to manage urban expansion effectively and ensure balanced development in surrounding areas.
The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also called for setting up a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the Katraj–Yerawada twin tunnel project. He said the Pune Municipal Corporation should lead the project in coordination with PMRDA to ensure timely execution.
Additionally, the authority approved a proposal to delegate powers related to land allotment, transfers, and NOCs directly to the metropolitan commissioner. This move is expected to speed up decision-making and improve service delivery for citizens.
