Pune: College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) has been selected among the 12 institutes/universities across the State for twinning arrangements to build capacity and improve the performance of participating institutions from the State for ‘Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP)’s third phase’. 

In accordance with this, a State Project Implementation Unit will be established to monitor and implement it by National Project Implementation Unit, the GR states.

“CoEP was given two technical institutes last year, a Indore-based technical institute and another Manipur-based technical institute to guide and mentor in order to improvise their syllabus. Even this time, it will be on similar lines to shore up the quality of engineering education system,” said Director of CoEP BB Ahuja.

The project, TEQIP-III, is the 12th five-year plan with an objective to improve the quality of engineering education in existing institutions, with a special consideration for the low-income states and Special Category States (SCS). TEQIP has been implemented since 2002-03. 

The TEQIP-III project will be 100 per cent funded by the Centre and was implemented in the country for Focus States (Low Income States) and Non-Focus States (Special Category) from April 1, 2017.

The other 11 institutes are Government College of Engineering in Aurangabad, Government College of Engineering in Karad, Government College of Engineering in Jalgaon, Veermata Jijabai Technology Institute, Institute of Chemical Technology, Sardar Patel College of Engineering, Shri Guru Govind Singh Institute of Engineering and Technology in Nanded, Walchand College of Engineering in Sangli, Department of Technology at Shivaji University in Kolhapur, Department of Chemical Technology at North Maharashtra University in Jalgaon and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University in Lonere.
