COVID-19 impact: Senior citizens restricted from visiting public places in Lonavala till August 31

Lonavala: The Lonavala Municipal Council has decided to ban senior citizens from going to public places in Lonavala till August 31, informed Chief officer Ravi Pawar.

Considering the continued rains in Lonavala and Khandala areas, the spots are a major attraction for the tourists during the monsoon season.

The decision came to light as Pune has the highest number of deaths due to COVID-19. 

Through Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Sunil Shelke, a well-equipped van will tour all sections of Lonavala city on different days has organised health check-ups of senior citizens.

The van will conduct chest X-ray, ECG, diabetes test, blood pressure test for senior citizens.

This will benefit everyone and a timetable will be announced as to when the van will be in which section. Chief Officer Pawar has appealed to all senior citizens to take advantage of this facility.

He also informed that all the well-equipped COVID Care Centers (DCHCs) required for COVID patients would be started from August 15 at Sanjeevani Hospital in Lonavala.
