COVID-19 Pune: City's death toll nears the 2,000-mark

Pune: The number of deaths due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the city continues to increase, and it will soon reach 2,000-mark. With 35 COVID-19 positive patients dying on Friday, the death toll in the city alone has now risen to 1,917. It is expected to cross the 2,000-mark in the next two days.

New COVID-19 patients were found in Pune on Saturday. These included 1,556 patients from Pune city as well as the Pimpri Chinchwad areas.

A total of 7,208 suspects were sampled for RTPCR and antigen testing in Pune on Friday. So far, 3.91 lakh samples of people have been taken in for testing. A total of 80,593 patients have tested positive in the city to date. Apart from these, a total of 1,570 patients recovered from COVID-19 in a day, and 63,919 patients have been discharged in all. As many as 14,757 active patients are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the city. Of these, 2,592 patients are being treated on oxygen. So, currently, 793 patients are critical, out of which 483 critically ill patients are on a ventilator.

As many as 35 patients died in Pune on Friday, out of which 18 were men and 17 were women. The age bracket of the deceased ranged from 26 to 92 years of age.
