Pune: "In order to provide beds and medical services to coronavirus patients on time, all private hospitals should record the available beds and other necessary information on the dashboard accurately, precisely and on time," said Saurabh Rao, special operations officer, divisional commissioner's office.
The Pune divisional commissioner, Dr Deepak Mhaishkar is home quarantine because his driver was suspected to be COVID-19 positive. Rao headed the meeting on Wednesday.
Rao informed that five coordinating officers at the level of Deputy Collector are being appointed for the management of private hospitals.
Rao was addressing a meeting with the managers, directors and doctors of the district from major hospitals, under the chairmanship of special operations officer Saurabh Rao at the Divisional Commissioner's office on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by Pune Municipal Corporation's Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram, Pune city Commissioner of Police Dr K. Venkatesham, Tribal Research and Training Institute Commissioner Pavneet Kaur, Assistant Charity Commissioner Dr Jagtap, District Surgeon Dr Ashok Nandapurkar, Principal of Sassoon Hospital Dr Muralidhar Tambe, as well as managers, office bearers and chief doctors of private hospitals in Pune were present.
Rao said, "The administration has been working for curbing the spread of coronavirus from the beginning. The first patient was found on March 9 in Pune. Private hospitals should provide more beds for timely treatment of the growing number of coronavirus patients. Hospitals with two buildings should declare one building as 'COVID Hospital' and start treatment accordingly. At the same time, emphasis should be placed on home segregation by counselling asymptomatic patients. Let's all work together to reduce the atmosphere of fear in the society about coronavirus."
He said, "There needs to be coordination between the administration and the hospital. In this regards, five coordinating officers shoul be appointed at the level of Deputy Collector. The officers would be in charge of monitoring the availability of hospital beds, charging fees, assistance, guidance and other medical services."
He directed the hospital authority, "The hospital administration should record accurate and transparent information on the dashboard to inform the citizens about the services and facilities like beds, ventilators etc. in the hospitals. Patients should not be charged exorbitant fees. There should be no negligence in the treatment of patients."
District Collector Naval Kishore Ram said, "COVID-19 patients should be given the benefit of Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and other schemes. More beds should be arranged for these patients. The action would be taken against the hospitals for charging exorbitant fees."
The Pune Municipal Corporation's Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Police Commissioner Dr K. Venkatesham and Pavneet Kaur explained the necessary measures.
Doctors from Bharti Hospital, Jehangir hospital, Ruby hall clinic, KEM Hospital, Inlax and Budrani hospital, Nobel hospital, Sahyadri hospital, Inamdar Hospital, Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Poona Hospital, Devyani Multispeciality Hospital presented their respective dashboards. They also shared the problems that the hospitals are facing and assured the administration of cooperation.
