The case originated in Lohariya police station limits in Banswara district, Rajasthan, where a minor girl, referred to as "Nirbhaya" for legal reasons, was allegedly lured and abducted. The accused, Lala Ramu Bamaniya (22) and Suresh Laxman Kharadi (19), were booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for raping the girl.

During the investigation, Rajasthan Police discovered that the accused had taken shelter in Pune’s Chandannagar area with a known acquaintance. One of them was reportedly working at a tea stall in the locality. Acting on this lead, the Pune Police’s Crime Branch and Chandannagar Police launched a coordinated search operation.

Once the accused got wind of police action, they attempted to flee. However, based on confidential information, both were finally apprehended from Tukaram Nagar in Kharadi.

Following their arrest, the accused were formally handed over to the Lohariya Police team from Rajasthan. The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP Nikhil Pingale, DCP Somay Munde, Assistant Commissioner Rajendra Mulik, and Pranjali Sonawane. Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakane and Inspector Sudarshan Gaikwad led the team that tracked down the suspects.
