Dating App Meet Turns into Robbery; Youth Looses ₹80,000 in Kondhwa

Victim lured to meeting spot, assaulted at knifepoint, and robbed of cash, phone, and jewellery; police register case and search for suspects.

Pune, 21 January 2026: An incident of robbery involving a young man lured through a dating app was reported in the Kondhwa. The accused allegedly trapped the victim through online contact and looted him of cash and valuables. A case has been registered against the unidentified accused at Kondhwa Police Station.

According to the police, a 27-year-old man from the Wagholi area lodged the complaint. On January 11, while browsing a dating app on his mobile phone, he received a message from an unknown person.

The accused contacted him and asked basic details such as his name and place of residence, and later asked him to meet near Sheetal Petrol Pump in Kondhwa around 9 pm.

When the complainant reached the spot, four young men intercepted him. They threatened him with a weapon and took him to an open ground in front of a school in Pansarenagar, Kondhwa. There, he was abused and assaulted. The accused snatched his mobile phone and jewellery and forced him to withdraw money from an ATM.

The robbers fled after looting valuables worth around ₹80,000. The accused are believed to be between 20 and 22 years old. Police have checked CCTV footage from the Sheetal Petrol Pump area and are continuing the search for the suspects.
