Deccan Edu Society to set up six private ITIs

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: City-based Deccan Education Society (DES) is planning to establish six private Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Pune, Sangli, Satara, Wai and Tirupati.

Chairman of DES Sharad Kunthe said that a committee of five members has been formed which is working on this project.

Soon, the education society will submit a proposal to state government authorities of technical education.

Kunthe announced the new proposal at the foundation day ceremony of DES on Friday. “We are trying to identify the areas in which skill-based courses are required and also which courses have more demand in a particular region.

Our focus is to introduce courses which will boost employment opportunity for the youths,” said Kunthe. The society plans to establish these institutes at the existing campuses of Deccan Education Society.

“We have our schools and colleges in Pune, Sangli, Satara, Wai and if possible, an institute will be set up in Tirupati too.

Since we have our established units at these places and our teachers are available there, it will be helpful in building the infrastructure of all institutes,” he said.

Kunthe said these institutes will start functioning by next year.
