Enquiry ordered into Kurkumbh fire

PUNE: Following the massive fire incident which broke out at a chemical plant in Kurkumbh MIDC area of Pune district’s Daund taluka on Wednesday night, officials of the district administration have ordered a detailed enquiry into the incident.

Several firefighters were rushed to the spot and police officials had to stop traffic on the Pune-Solapur highway.

While the exact reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained, officials of the Fire Fighting Department said that a major tragedy was averted after the fire was brought under control.

Officials of the district administration said that they will take details from the Pollution Control Board, MIDC and other agencies about the chemical plant.
