Pune, 1 July 2025 – “Find our mother, find our daughter!” – With such emotional pleas, the family members of Pradnya Kiran Marne (35), who has been missing since June 5, staged a protest outside the Pune Police Commissionerate today. Pragya had visited Bharati Hospital in Katraj for dental treatment, called her family afterward to say she was returning home, but never arrived.
Despite filing a missing complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station soon after, the family claims that no serious investigation has been conducted in the 25 days since her disappearance. Her mother, two young children, husband, in-laws, and brothers participated in the protest, holding posters that read, "When will our mother, daughter, and sister return?"
“We filed the complaint immediately, but no concrete steps have been taken by the police. We’ve searched across Pune district, put up public posters, and even announced a ₹1 lakh reward for any information. We’ve advertised in multiple newspapers, but there’s still no lead,” said Swati Dhamale, a relative of the missing woman.
The family sought an audience with the Police Commissioner but could not meet him. However, they did meet Additional Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, who assured them that instructions had been issued to senior officers for immediate action.
“If there is no progress by July 10, we will protest during the upcoming monsoon session in Mumbai,” Dhamale added.
“We have taken full cognizance of the case. Senior police inspectors have been directed to pursue the investigation more aggressively. We are confident the woman will be found soon,” said Additional Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma.
