Pune, 23rd July 2026: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the licences of 10 hotels, restaurants and bakeries across the Pune division after finding serious violations of food safety norms, including unhygienic conditions and the storage of expired food items.
During the special inspection drive, officials also seized food stock worth ₹3.48 lakh, arrested five persons, and registered criminal cases against the offenders.
The enforcement drive was carried out on July 18 and July 21 across Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maval, Junnar, Khed and Satara districts. According to the FDA, inspections revealed multiple violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act, prompting immediate suspension of licences and legal action.
Separate raids were also conducted at establishments in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pandharpur and Vaduj, where authorities found additional violations and initiated criminal proceedings against the operators.
Among the establishments whose licences were suspended are Hotel Lokpriya and Jai Sadguru Irani Chaha and Snacks Centre at Market Yard, Foclo Technology Pvt. Ltd. in Bavdhan, Swiinsta ENT Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. in Aundh, and Aksa Bakery in Adarsh Nagar.
The action also covered Tony Da Dhaba in Kamshet (Maval), Fountain Pure Veg in Alephata (Junnar), KM Foods in Khad, and Shalimar Udupi Veg Restaurant along with Surabhi Hotel and Bar in Vaduj, Satara district.
The FDA has instructed all food business operators to strictly follow food safety regulations. Establishments have been directed to provide free safe drinking water to customers, use food-grade packaging materials, avoid the reuse of cooking oil, and ensure that menu cards do not carry misleading information.
The department has also urged consumers to report food safety violations through its toll-free helpline 1800-222-365, encouraging public participation in improving food hygiene standards across the region.
