Pune, 23rd July 2026: Punekars will continue to receive uninterrupted water supply as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided against imposing water cuts following a rise in water levels across the four dams supplying the city. Mayor Manjusha Nagpure announced the decision after reviewing the latest water storage and supply situation.
Heavy rainfall during July has significantly improved water reserves in the Khadakwasla dam system. While the combined storage stood at around 50 per cent in the first week of the month, it has now increased to 20.16 TMC (69.17%), providing adequate water for the city's current requirements. With rainfall continuing in the catchment areas, officials expect reservoir levels to improve further.
PMC had earlier said the water situation would be reviewed on July 22 before taking a final call on water rationing. Following a detailed assessment of reservoir storage, water availability and the city's distribution network, the civic administration concluded that regular water supply can continue without any cuts.
"The water storage in the dams supplying Pune has improved considerably, and the city's distribution system is functioning smoothly. After reviewing the overall situation, we have decided not to impose water cuts. Citizens should not pay attention to rumours about water rationing and should continue to use water responsibly," Mayor Manjusha Nagpure said while announcing the decision.
She added that the Water Supply Department is ensuring planned distribution across all parts of the city and that any technical issues are being resolved promptly to avoid disruptions.
