The inspection was conducted on June 16 by food safety officials under the directions of FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe. During the visit, officials found multiple shortcomings that could compromise food safety and pose health risks to consumers.

According to the FDA, the canteen lacked proper food storage and temperature control systems. Officials also observed inadequate pest-control measures, unhygienic food handling practices, and improper separation of raw and cooked food.

Records related to water quality testing and medical examinations of employees were also not available during the inspection.

The agency further noted deficiencies in cleanliness and pest management within the facility. These lapses raised concerns about compliance with food safety standards and the overall safety of food being served at the canteen.

FDA Joint Commissioner (Food) Digambar Bhogawade said the department had received complaints about the facility through social media. Considering the nature and seriousness of the violations found during the inspection, authorities concluded that allowing the food business to continue operations could pose a risk to public health. Consequently, the food licence of the establishment has been suspended.
