Pune, 16th July 2026: The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis requesting permission for restaurants, clubs and other hospitality establishments to remain open until 2:30 AM on the night of July 19.

The request has been made in view of the FIFA World Cup final, which will be played in the United States.

The final between Spain and Argentina is scheduled to kick off at 12:30 AM Indian Standard Time, attracting the attention of football fans across the world. Many restaurants, clubs and sports venues across Maharashtra are planning live screenings of the match.

However, under the existing rules, commercial establishments such as restaurants and clubs are required to close by 1:30 AM, which means fans would be unable to watch the entire match at these venues.

In its letter to the Chief Minister, the NRAI has requested a one-time relaxation allowing hospitality establishments to remain open until 2:30 AM or until the match concludes.

The association said the temporary extension would enable football enthusiasts to enjoy the final while also providing a business boost to restaurants, clubs and other hospitality establishments hosting live screenings.

The association has urged the state government to consider the request and grant the necessary permission for the special occasion.
