Pune etched its name in India’s defence history by hosting the 77th Army Day Parade at the prestigious Bombay Engineers Group (BEG) & Centre. For the first time ever, the ceremonial parade was held outside Delhi, underscoring Pune’s long-standing military legacy and its strategic importance in India’s armed forces ecosystem.

Pune hosted India’s inaugural International Agri Hackathon, bringing together innovators, researchers, startups, and policymakers to develop technology-driven solutions for agriculture. Organised by Pusa Krishi, ICAR-IARI, ICAR, and the Department of Agriculture, the event spotlighted advancements in AI, IoT, mechanisation, and sustainable farming.

Marking a major retail milestone, Apple opened its first official store in Pune at KOPA Mall, Koregaon Park. Pune hosted Maharashtra’s first-ever large-scale drone show at SP College grounds, featuring 1,000 drones choreographed into stunning aerial formations. Titled “Jyotine Tejachi Aarti”, the show celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, blending patriotism, culture, and cutting-edge technology.

Pune witnessed the arrival of Dashavatar, 800 years old, Maharashtra’s ancient Konkan folk theatre tradition depicting Lord Vishnu’s ten avatars. Led by artists like Dada Rane Konaskar, the performances recreated the ambience of Konkan villages, introducing city audiences to traditional masks, music, dance, and devotional storytelling rooted in moral and cultural values.

The Bajaj Pune Marathon 2025 marked a landmark moment as the city hosted its first-ever full 42.2 km marathon. Elevating the event’s global stature, Olympic icons Noah Lyles and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce served as race ambassadors, reinforcing Pune’s emergence as a major destination for international sporting events.
