Five held for multiple thefts

Pune: Pimpri police have arrested five thieves, including a minor, who were involved in multiple thefts across the city. The arrests were made on Friday and the police have recovered 15 motorcycles, 8 mobile phones, one laptop, one country-made pistol and a few live cartridges amounting to Rs 7.53 lakh from them. 

Those arrested have been identified as Nilesh Gaikwad, Shankar Pawar, Sameer Shaikh, Vikas Kamble and a minor. The gang of thieves was involved in 15 incidents of theft. The arrests were made on a tip-off to the Pimpri police. Initially, they nabbed Kamble and the minor from Bhat Nagar area and recovered a country-made pistol with two live cartridges from them. After the first arrest, police managed to arrest remaining offenders from other areas. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of IPC, excluding the minor.
