Pune: The city which was once the hotspot of novel coronavirus is finally witnessing the decline in new cases. With COVID-19 flattening its curve, Pune city is looking back to get on normal track with number of activities permitted by the administration.

With decline in new cases, Saturday also brought one good news for Pune. The city on Saturday reported zero death amid COVID-19 infection. The city reported zero death after 11 months since the beginning of the outbreak.

The first death due to coronavirus was reported on March 30, 2020. From past few days, the fatality case was dropped and finally on Saturday not even a single death was recorded. The first case of COVID-19 was reported on March 9 last year however the nationwide lockdown was imposed from March 24.

"Pune being epicentre was reporting number of cases with rapid speed. However, the priority was to give timely treatment to patients. Currently, mortality rate of the Pune city is 2.4 per cent and will be decreased further in coming days," said Dr Sanjeev Wavre, Assistant Health Officer, PMC.

Pune city on Saturday reported 180 new caes of COVID-19 taking total to 1,92,982. On the positive front, 1,86,801 people are recovered from the contagion. The city till date recorded 4,774 deaths.
