Goat sacrifice during Navratri leads to chaos

PUNE: Around four to five persons barged into the house of a woman in Alankar area to stop her from sacrificing a goat at her residence on Wednesday afternoon.

As per information given by the Alankar police, the woman who was performing religious prayers to Goddess Durga due to the ongoing Navratri festival had sacrificed a goat in her bathroom. Around four to five persons barged into her home and tried to stop her from doing that. The incident led to a chaos. Police Inspector Kalpana Jadhav said that the police were planning to file a cross-complaint in the case.

“We are planning to lodge a case against the woman under section 429 (Mischief by killing or maiming cattle) of the Indian Penal Code and are checking the legalities in the case,” added Jadhav.

Prashant  Kanojiya, member of MNS party said a complaint was filed against the four to five persons who entered the woman’s home.

“People were angry as the woman was sacrificing a goat during the auspicious festival of Navratri and so they tried to stop that. On the other hand, the woman was sacrificing a goat and so police officials were in process of a filing a case against her for torturing the animal,” added Kanojiya.
